Digital Agenda introduces the Alpha Stage Startups Innovation Platform where startuppers and Innovation Teams can participate in Digital Agenda Alpha Stage Artificial Intelligence Competition DAAS-AI.
DAAS-AI aims to encourage teams from Cyprus, the surrounding region, and any other country to present their innovative work with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) ranging from 3 to 5.
DAAS-AI is targeting startups and Innovation Teams who are developing or embedding AI solutions within the sectors of Tourism or Media or Learning/Education or Wellbeing. The startups or teams should have reached a stage where they can attract VC funding , aiming to reach closer to commercialisation.
Four (4) proposals will be pre-selected by the jury, and from these, the winner, through presentations within the Alpha Stage, will win a prize of 10,000 euros on behalf of the Digital Agenda Cyprus Summit

Kyriacos Kokkinos is ex-Deputy Minister to the President for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.
He previously served as the Chief Scientist for Research & Innovation of the Republic of Cyprus, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Research & Innovation Foundation and Member of the National Board of Research & Innovation.
He is a distinguished professional with 30 years of experience in Executive Management, Technology and Business Consulting, served at senior Executive roles in global corporations such as IBM Europe (Executive Director & Partner) and PwC. He also served at the Board of Directors of many Organisations, including Invest Cyprus (Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency - CIPA), the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), the Cyprus Port Authority (CPA), and the Board of Trustees of the Cyprus Institute.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for professional excellence, including the Lifetime Contribution Honorary Award in the Profession of Information Technology 2023’ (from Cyprus IT Enterprises Association)
‘Business Leader of the Year Award’ 2016 (from Cyprus Chamber of Commerce) and the ‘Quality Leader Award 2015’ (from Cyprus Quality Association).

TECHNOLOGY INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE AT BIG PI VENTURES Melina Mai is currently a Technology Investment Associate at Big Pi Ventures, a deep-tech early-stage venture capital fund. Her responsibilities involve sourcing, evaluating, and supporting technology-driven startups, particularly in AI, Life Sciences, and Climate-tech. She is also actively engaged in fostering the startup ecosystem, providing mentorship to the teams of the Cyprus Seeds accelerator. Before joining Big Pi, Melina worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she contributed to strategy and operations projects for pioneer companies in various sectors, such as Energy, Banking, Insurance, and Telecommunications. She holds an Integrated Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (Metsovion), with her diploma thesis focusing on deep learning. |
